- 1) In Game
in game tutorial covers the basics of playing the game. We highly
recommend that you run through it once before playing.
Steering the ship
are two options for controlling the ship. By default the
accelerometer is turned off and the ship is controlled using the
touchpad located in the lower right corner of the screen in Cockpit and
Trailing view. To turn on the accelerometer (tilt to steer), tap
the MENU button in game and choose ENABLE TILT STEERING. Once
tilt steering is enabled you may steer the ship by tilting your ipad
side to side to turn and forward and back to look up and down.
When you enable tilt the current position of your device is used to
calibrate steering - position your ipad as you desire for level flight
when enabling TILT STEERING. The Artificial Horizon display is
located on your dashboard, beneath the CITIZENS REMAINING
display. It shows your ships angle of tilt in all directions and
can be a handy reference should you lose sight of the ground.
Important Tip - you may tap on the Artificial Horizon to level out the
- 3) Throttle control
the throttle control in the lower left corner to control your
speed. Drag the control down, into the red area to back up - drag
it up in to the greed area to go forward.
- 4) Sensors and Stealth
Sensors are effectd by the fog, which
rolls in and out durring the course of the day, and are of course
effected by distance. Sensors are also effected when you are at
very low altitude (below 20 feet) and moving slowly or stopped.
This low altitude STEALTH mode will make you hard to see and target in
- 5) Weapons
are seperated into two groups, with Rockets and Missiles in one group
and Lasers and Pulse Canon in the other. Lasers will
fire and hit their target when centered in the view and within range -
they are effective in damaging a ships sheilds, making them more
vunerable to rocket and missile damage. Pulse Canon must be aimed
manually, making a hit difficult, but are more effective than lasers at
causing both sheild and hull damage. Rockets are unguided and do
require a lock on target - they are cheap but can be difficult to
employ effectively. The Hail Mary rocket is the exception - it
split into several guided missiles once fired and will automatically
target hostile ships. Missiles are guided and are the most
weapon - the missile lock diamond will turn RED once you are within
missile range but beware of firing from too far away - your target may
outrun your missiles limited fuel supply.
- 6) Debris and Tractor Beam
missiles use the Tractor Beam to
retreive debris from destroyed ships. There are no shops in
multiplayer, so you bill be given missiles directly when you retreive
way to find and target debris is by using the full screen map - hold
your finger down on the mini map to display the full screen map.
Debris will be displayed with orange icons (when in sensor range) - tap
on one to target it, then exit the map using the X in the upper right
corner. Now follow the orange waypoint pointer to get a clear
the debris, hit Engage Tractor to pick it up. This is also
the in game tutorial.
- 7) Targeting Ships
easiest way to target a nearby ship is to tap on it. You may also
use the Select Target button in the upper left of your screen, which
will provide a list of all nearby ships, sorted by distance. Note
that ships that are hidden in stealth mode will not be displayed in
this list unless you are within 300 feet of them. The full screen
map is also a vital tool in locating other players (even those hidden
by stealth) - ships will be harder to see the farther away they are,
and may be further hidden by stealth, so it can take a keen eye to
locate them on the map.
- 8) Multi player gameplay
object of the multi player game is to shoot down the opposing players
while protecting your own ship - you will score one point for shooting
down an opponent, you will lose one point for being shot down.
There are no shops, mechanics, home garages or chargepads in the multi
player game - your ship will recharge on its own slowly, so watch your
energy use (laser weapons). Each player has a limited supply of
missiles. There are two ways to get more missiles - either by
picking up debris from destroyed ships (as mentioned above) or by
running into the special
MISSILE PICKUPS which will apear at random spots in the sky above the
city. These pickups will look like a stack of four missiles,
floating in the sky and have a column of smoke rising from them for
visibility - you will also see them on your in game map as flashing
